Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

HopWiki ("we", "us") operates hopwiki.net, a free game that gives you two random Wikipedia articles and challenges you to get from one to the other using links. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site.

What we collect

HopWiki has no accounts, logins or sign-up forms, and we do not ask for or store your name, email address or other personal details. We do not run a database of players. Your game (the two articles shown) exists only in your browser.

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) may automatically log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.

Wikipedia

To get random articles and to calculate the shortest path, your browser sends requests directly to Wikipedia's public API (en.wikipedia.org), operated by the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikimedia can see your IP address and these requests under its own privacy policy. Links to articles open on Wikipedia, which has its own policies. Wikipedia article text is available under the CC BY-SA license.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time.

Children

HopWiki is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not stop the game from working, but you may still see ads that are not personalized.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
